Pocket size reinforcers

If you use Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) you probably try to teach also out of your place, during a walk in the park, while traveling or food shopping in the market.
I was always fighting with all the stuff my son was carrying around with him in his hands, pieces of some game, an enormous toy impossible to hide in my pocket or bag… A lot of (for me) completely useless and insignificant objects… I know. I understand you now. I was there as well.
However, you can always take a book with you or grab a bunch of legos. I found something else you could use as reinforcer and as the distraction – sensory overload relaxing escape.  Dices1

One of the ‘little magical’ things how I call it is a set of color dices with numbers, shaped variously. You can actually use them to teach colors, shapes and numbers!  Multi Colored Polyhedral Dices  are small and light enough to have them at your fingertips each time you need them when you are around.

MiniPuzzle3

MiniPuzzleOther one is a box of Kikkerland Mini Wood Puzzle  . That was our first successful experience with toys in miniature as reinforcer/relaxing activity. I remember I bought some of small sized games and toys to take them on board while flying for our holiday destination. Our little boy was amazed.
Tiny, funny and cheap solutions for little fingers and engineers’ minds. The only caution is for those under 3 years old and those who occasionally put some not edible stuff in the mouth. For the rest – I truly recommend and play with when my son is not watching!
